I am Mark Piland and I am running for Mayor of Frisco. Since I have not had the opportunity to meet many of you yet, I thought I would introduce myself and let you know about how I got here.

I grew up in Virginia Beach, Virginia and entered the fire service at the age of nineteen. My experiences in the fire department would lead to joining the Virginia Task Force.

On September 11, 2001, I along with a team of rescuers responded to the Pentagon and spent 10 days searching for those that had lost their lives.

Later, I would be asked to lead rescue teams into New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina and into Haiti after the massive earthquake. My roles included search and rescue, as well as operations providing food, water and supplies in areas of crisis.

When Frisco found itself on the global front page with the second suspected EBOLA case in the US (2014), I led the city’s Emergency Management response both in public statements as well as our work to ensure the safety of our residents.

I have served as a firefighter, EMT and shift commander in Virginia Beach as well as Fire Chief in Volusia County, Florida.

In 2013, along with my wife Wanda and our daughter Bella, we moved to Frisco where I took the role of Fire Chief and Emergency Management Coordinator in this rapidly growing community.

My 43 years of fire service leadership prepared me for leading Frisco’s response to the COVID crisis locally and regionally, providing the most efficient response across the state—which allowed our community and businesses to get back to work and back to living. My work was recognized with the 2020 Mayor’s Award.

My experience in city operations, budgeting, staffing, public relations, massive growth, infrastructure and community leadership have all led to this moment in time where I believe I can take my public service role into serving the residents of Frisco as your Mayor.

I look forward to meeting you and understanding your thoughts about Frisco and our future.

I would love for you to help spread my message by liking and sharing my posts!
